Forge Claims the Throne! DT's Power Surge and and the Thompson Boys’ Massive Meltdown!

The mid-May sun is heating up, but the action in Freddy Beach Baseball is even hotter. We've seen a massive shakeup at the top of the standings, a "MASH Monster" performance that went unrewarded in the H2H column, and a waiver wire so thin it makes a 1-ply tissue look durable.

MASH Monsters & Top Performers

The statistical king of the week is G (Raleigh Caps), who put up a towering MASH of 78-31-1. He was elite across the board, but special mention must go to Forgy (Ricky Vaughn), who wasn't far behind with a 74-33-3 MASH. These two are clearly separated from the pack right now. Also showing signs of life was DT (Bronx Bombers), who locked in the third-best MASH of 69-37-4.

Matchup Mayhem: The Official Results

Here's how the Week 7 battles ended:

  • Forgy (Ricky Vaughn) dismantled The Thompson Boys (TNTNT) 9-1-0. A total "blood on the tracks" performance.
  • G (Raleigh Caps) handled Benny (The Beetle Bunch) 8-2-0.
  • Soulja (chicksDigtheLongball) took care of Joel (BaseOnBalls) 7-1-2.
  • Neater (Welcome to the Jungle) edged out DT (Bronx Bombers) 5-4-1 in a nail-biter.
  • Turg (Staff Infection) fought off Killer (Bro Bichette) 6-4-0.
  • Jojo (JOBU) secured a win over Ads (Handsy McNasty) 6-3-1.

Focus on the Big Stories: The Throne and the Sunday Heist

Forgy Reclaims the Throne

We have a new leader! By absolutely demolishing The Thompson Boys, Forgy has vaulted into 1st place overall. He didn't just win; he sent a message. With a pitching staff that posted a league-best 1.41 ERA and 5 Wins, Forge is looking like the team to beat as we approach the Summer months.

Ben's Sunday Night Special

Even in a losing effort against G, Beeg managed to provide a bit of drama. Heading into Sunday night, the Net Saves/Holds category was a dead heat, but a late-night save from Ben's bullpen snatched the category away from Garrett. It didn't change the final outcome, but even the small victories are large ones for Beetle right now!

The "Pathetic" Waiver Wire

If you were looking to improve your team, I hope you like disappointment. The waiver wire is looking remarkably thin. Managers seem to be clutching their FAAB like pearls, waiting for a savior that might never come. If your roster has holes, you might have to get "creative" via trade, because the scrap heap is officially empty. As always, Turg's inbox is open.

The Homer Cup 🏆

The longball trophy stays in the Bronx this week! DT (Bronx Bombers) paced the league with 13 Home Runs, narrowly beating out Neate (11) and G (12). Despite a frustrating H2H week, Doug can at least take solace in the fact that his bats are still booming.

This Week's Hard Luck Award 😢

The award for statistical misery goes to DT (Bronx Bombers). Doug posted the 3rd best MASH in the entire league (69-37-4). In almost any other matchup, he cruises to a victory. Instead, he ran into the 4th best MASH (Neate) and watched as the categories fell just the wrong way in a 4-5-1 loss. You're playing the right way, DT, the "Fantasy Baseball Gods" just didn't get the memo this week.

This Week's "Got Away With One" Award 🍀

Turg (Staff Infection) is our Luckiest Winner this week. Jer posted a MASH of 40-65-5, which was the 4th worst in the league. Despite the sub-par performance, he managed to grind out a 6-4 victory over Zach (who was better than him by MASH). Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and Turg is living proof of that this week.

Dumpster Fire of the Week: TNTNT 🔥

It was a week to forget for The Thompson Boys. They turned in the worst MASH of the season so far—a dismal 18-86-6. Facing the buzzsaw that was Forge didn't help, but when you're losing 86 potential category points in a single week, there's nowhere to hide. Grab the extinguisher, boys; this one is still smoldering.

Standings Snapshot

The battle at the top is separated by the thinnest of margins!

  1. Ricky Vaughn (41-27-2) - Forge is the new King of the Beach!
  2. Welcome to the Jungle (39-26-5) - Neate is lurking just half a game back.
  3. Bro Bichette (39-27-4) - Zach rounds out the top three.

...

  1. The Beetle Bunch (21-48-1) - Ben, as an AI I can't see the future, but it might be worth looking into chip futures and how to freeze dip without ruining it when a sale hits.

Good luck in Week 8! ☘️
