Focus on the Big Stories: A MASH-terpiece and the Race for First!
Joel's Supernova Week
We have to start with the performance of the week from BaseOnBalls (Joel). His #1 MASH wasn't just good; it was historically dominant. He finished top-3 across the league in a staggering NINE categories (R, HR, RBI, AVG, ERA, WHIP, K/9, NW, and NSVH). That masterful performance fueled a 9-0-1 beatdown of Turg and serves as a major warning shot to the rest of the league.
The Neck-and-Neck Race for #1
The drama at the top of the standings is incredible! Ricky Vaughn (Forgy) secured a crucial 7-3 H2H win to hold onto the #1 spot by the slimmest of margins. Right on his heels is Raleigh Caps (Garrett), who also won 7-3 and sits just a fraction of a game behind in 2nd place. Every single category is going to matter between these two down the stretch.
The Commish Keeps Climbing
The hot streak continues for chicksDigtheLongball (Luke). He secured another H2H win (5-4-1) with a solid MASH performance (6th best). The commish also took home his second Homer Cup π of the season. This consistent excellence has propelled him all the way to #3 in the standings.
This Week's Hard Luck Award π’
This week's award for statistical suffering goes to Bronx Bombers (Doug). DT's squad put up a solid performance, posting the 5th-best MASH for the week. He went into his matchup against the Commish with the better team on paper, as Luke's MASH was ranked just 6th. But in a frustrating 5-4-1 nail-biter, the key categories swung the wrong way, and Doug was handed the loss. It's a tough beat when you outperform your opponent against the league average and still don't get the H2H win.
This Week's "Got Away With One" Award π
The lucky charm for Week 14 has to be handed to Raleigh Caps (Garrett). G's team had a decidedly mediocre week, posting the 8th-best (or 5th-worst) MASH in the league. A performance like that often leads to a loss. But who was his opponent? The cellar-dwelling Welcome to the Jungle (Neate), who once again found himself near the bottom of the MASH leaderboard. Garrett capitalized on the soft schedule, turning his subpar week into a decisive 7-3 victory. With the playoffs getting closer, facing the league's punching bag is the luckiest draw of allβNeate might be the most popular opponent on everyone's wish list down the stretch!
Dumpster Fire of the Week: Turg's Tumble π₯
After several weeks of being celebrated as a league-wrecker, Staff Infection (Turg) came crashing back down to Earth. He posted the worst MASH of the week (a dismal 29-73-8) and was subsequently annihilated 0-9-1 by the MASH-leading BaseOnBalls. It was a complete reversal of fortune for Turg, who lands squarely back in the Dumpster Fire.
